Laa Ilah ila Ilaah Moxamed rasuulu Ilaah


Muslimiinta waxay kaloo haystaan wax kaloo muhimah, oo waxay fuliyaan waajibaadka ay diintu farayso.

Ciise waa Rabbi . . .

Kitaabka Quduuska Ah wuxuu ku bilaabanayaa wax kasta oo dunida ku jira oo ay banii-aadanka ka midyihiin in uu Eebbe leeyahay.

Waxaaynu ku sameyneynaa dunida Ilaah dusheedaa oo aan isticmaalayno waa mid Ilaah u muhiim ah, weligiina kama rajadhidigin xataa qayb ka mid ah dunida. Soomaaliya iyo dadka Soomaaliyeed, dadka qaar waxay u malaynayaan Ilaah intuu dunida abuuray kaddibna ku daalay uu iska tagay, taasu way ka duwantahay sida ku cad kitaabka.


Kutubka wuxuu yiri : “Isagu wuxuu ka dhigaa in dooggu xoolaha u soo baxo, Oo geedaha yaryarna wuxuuu soo bixiyey in dadku ku isticmaalo, Inuu dhulka cunto ka soo bixiyoo.” (Zabur, Sabuurradii 104: 14)


Ciise waa sayidka dunida

Ilaah markuu dunida abuurayey wuxuu u abuuray inuu Ciise ahaado sayidka dunida.

Caasiyaan ama Fallagoobaan

Ilaah jacaylkiisa iyo naxariistiisa ayaa ah mida kaliya ee aannu ka rajaynayno inuu noo sameeyo. Haddaba wakhtiyadii oqoonla’aanta Ilaah baa dhaafay, laakin hadda wuxuu dadka ku amrayaa in dhammaantood meel kastaba ha joogeene ay soo toobadkeenaan; maxaa yeelay, wuxuu dhigay maalin uu dunida si xaq ah ugu xukumi doono ninkuu dortay, taasoo uu dhammaan ugu caddeeyey sarakicidda uu isagii ka soo sara kiciyey kuwii dhintay.”

Injiilka sida Yooxanaa 6: 44 ku qoran:

Nina iima iman karo hadduusan Aabbihii i soo diray soo jiidin, aniguna maalinta u dambaysa waan soo sara kicin doonaa.”

Markii uu qof joojiyo caasinimada oo Ciise u ogolaado inuu noloshiisa xukumo, tani waa mid calaamo cad in Ilaah badalay qofkaas oo islamarkaana ka dhigay mid cusub. Waxaa laga yaabaa inay dareemaan wax isku mid ah, laakiin si kala duwan ayay u dhaqmaan maxaa yeelay waa ay kala duwan yihiin. Oo tani waa wax mucjisa ah. Isbadelku ma aha mid uu qof sameeyay ama ku yimid doorasho xagga ku dhaqanka diinta.

Kuwa Ciise raacay waa kuwa ogaaday oo aqbalay inuu Ciise xukumo noloshooda nin ama naag. Waxay ogaadeyn in ay Ciise ku caasiyeen oo istaahilaan in la ciqaabo.

Kuwa Ciise raacay waa kuwa aaminsan inuu Ciise ku dhintay iskutalaabta oo taasi uu ku qaaday ciqaabtii ay galabsadeen dembiilayaasha. Waqti dhow ayaan sharixi doonaa dhimashadii Ciise. Kuwa raacay Ciise waa kuwa u soo jeestay u yeeridii towbadkeenka Ilaah. Waxay ka soo noqdeen caasinimadii oo waxay isu dhiibeen Ciise. Kuwani waxay og yihiin naag ama nin in la cafiyay. Maxay dadka qaarkood u yiraahdaan “Ciise waa Willka Ilaah?


Qofka Muslimka ah wuxuu yaqaan in Ciise uu yahay Erayga Ilaah (Kalimu Laah). Haddii aad akhrisid Injiilka sida ku qoran Yooxaana 1:1-3 waxaad arki doontaa in isla Eraygan uu billowgii la jiray Ilaah. Oo Eraygan ayaa laga abuuray wax kast oo xitaa aan imminka ugu yeerno “jiritaanka”

Ciise ma uu billaaban oo kaliya markii ay Maryan dhashay Isaga. Ciise wuxuu jiray Ibraahim ka hor, oo waxay ahayd sanaddo badan ka hor. Ciise ayaa madaxdii wadaddadii “ku yiri Ibraahim hortiis ayaan jiray.




Runtii wuxuu la joogay Ilaaha ah Aabbaha xitaa billowgii inta aanan dunida la abuurin ka hor xitaa Aden iyo Xaawa. Waa tan mida ay aayada ugu horaysa ee Towraat ay leedahay.

Kitaabka Quduudka Ah, (Taurat, Bilowgii 1:1) aya qaybteeda kale lagu isticmaalay ficil (af Somali “abuuray” ah). Waa Ilaah (af Cibraaniyadda “Elohim”) waxa sameeyo wuxuu ku sameeyaa si isku mid ah ama misaysan taasoo ka turjumayso sida uu yahay. Laakiin sabadta Ciise loogu yeeray Ina Ilaah macnaheeda ma aha in Ilaah uu Maryan guursaday oo markaas ay dhashay Will ah bani-aadam, ama xagga jirka ka yimid. Injiilka, Ciise waxaa loogu yeeray magacyo badan kuwaasoo ay ka mid yihiin Albaabka,

Geedka canabka laakiin Isagama samayn alwaaxa oo mana u korin sidii geed oo kale ama sidii albaab guri xiran oo kale.

Laakiin erayadan waxaa loo isticmaalay hab cilmiyeed. Waxaa loogu yeeray Ciise “Wiillka Ilaah” maxaa yeelay waa mid xagga dabeecadda la mid ah Ilaah ah Aabbaha, sida wiilkayga aan dhalay uu iila mid yahay amaba qabiilkayga aan isugu mid nahay sidaas oo kale ayay isugu mid yihiin Aabbaha iyo Willka.

Waxyaabaha kale ee loo isticmaalay Ciise ayaa waxaa ka mid ah. Inuu inta badan isugu yeeri jiray “Wiilka Aadanaha” sida runta ah tan ayaa ka mid ahayd waxyaabahii cadaynayey bini-aadannimadiisa. Waxaa laga yaabaa inaad ku faraxdid arintan laakiin bal sug wax yar. Waxay mid run ah in Ciise uu noqday jir oo uu ahaa bini-aadan iyo sidoo kale mid awood leh. Riyadii habeennimada waxaan ku arkay mid u eg wiilkii aadan aha oo ku yimid daruuraha samada, oo wuxuu u yimid, kii da’da weynaa, oo waa loo soo dhoweeyey oo hortiisaa la soo taagay. Oo waxaa la siiyey dowladnimo iyo ammaan iyo boqortooyo, inay dadyowga, iyo quruumaha, iyo kuwa kala afka ahu u wada adeegaan. Dowladnimadiisu waa dowladnimo weligeed jiraysa, oo aan dhammaanayn, boqortooyadiisuna waa mid aan la baabbi’in doonin.”

Tani waxay noo horseedaysaa su’aasha kale taasoo ah, Waa maxay dabeecadda Ilaah? Waxaan og nahay in Ilaah yahay Ruux. Aabbahu ma laha jir iyo dhiig sidi Ciise Masiix. Oo haatan waxaynu og nahay Ruuxa Quduuska ah inuu yahay “Ruuxa” Laakiin seddexdaba waxay isku yihiin mid. Waxay wada leeyihiin hal shaqo iyo shaqsiyad ay ku kala duwan yihiin. Dadka qaar ayaa waxay isticmaalaan waxyaabo tusaalooyin ah si ay u qeexaan arintan. Laakiin runtii aniga ma u malaynayo inay wax tar leedahay. Ilaah waa mid aan la aqoon karin oo qarsoon. Ma fahmi karno Ilaah. Maxaa yeelay haddii aan isku dayno inaan fahamno, taasi waxay la mid tahay inagoo iska dhignay Ilaah oo aannu garanayno wax kasta oo Isaga kusaabsan. Runtii ma fahmi karno.

Laakiin haddii aad siisid waqti si aad u akhrisid Kitaabka oo dhan, waxaad arki doontaa waxyaabo cajaa’ibleh:


Aabbah, Wiilka iyo Ruuxa Quduuska ayaa waxay yihiin mid iyo weliba hal Ilaah.


Midkasta oo ka mid ah seddexdan. Seddexdooda waxay ka dhigaysaa mid qura. Aabbaha ma aha Wiilka, Wiilkana ma aha Ruuxa Quduuska ah.

Awood kasta uu mid leeyahay ayaa waxay tahay mid kala midaysan labada kale weligeed mana kala bixi karan oo waa Ilaah.


Mid kast ayaa wuxuu la mid yahay labada kale, wuxuuna leeyahay dabeecad iyo sharaf la mid ah labada kale. Waa tan qayb ah Kitaabka oo ka hadlayso waxa uu yahay Ciise.

What is a Muslim?


As a Somali you will know that a Muslim is a person who confesses the Shahada,


La Ilah il Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah


Muslims hold to other significant beliefs. They also perform prescribed religious duties. But how do Muslims differ from the followers of Ciise? The topic of this booklet is “What makes a true follower of Ciise?



Jesus is Lord . . .


The Bible begins by stating that the world and everything in it, including people, belongs to God.

What we do in God’s world and with it is important to God. He has never lost interest in His world, not in any part of it. He has not lost interest in Somalia or the Somali people. Some people think that God made His world and then grew tired of it but this is quite contrary to what the Bible says.


You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate that he may bring forth food from the earth.” (Psalm 104: 14)


Jesus—the Master of the World

When God created the world He did so that Jesus Christ would be Master of it. Here is what the Injil has to say about this:


For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1: 16-17)


Jesus Christ, through his death and resurrection, has become Lord or Master of the whole creation.


And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2: 8-11)


He has therefore the right to control everything in the world. Including the lives of men and women boys and girls among the people of Somalia. They should recognize him as their Master and God. The Bible says there is only one God. Followers of Jesus do not believe in three gods. Later in this booklet we will explain why the idea of three gods is not acceptable.


For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all.” (1 Timothy 2: 5-6)


Those who believe in Jesus Christ do not believe that there are three gods. That error will be commented on later in his booklet. However, if you are not a follower of Jesus you should worship and obey Him. This is what is meant by the statement ‘Jesus Christ is Lord’. It is believing this and acting on it which makes a Somali or any person a follower of Jesus Christ. We will explain later why Jesus is worthy of worship. And I will explain some things you may not yet know. But first here are some preliminary comments.


Rebels!


Men and women everywhere are rebellious to the idea that their lives should be controlled by Jesus. They want to be independent. They want to be free from His rule and authority. They see themselves as ‘free to do their own thing’.

They make the mistake of thinking that their lives are their own to do with as they like. They reject Jesus as their Lord –sometimes passively, sometimes actively—but whether actively or passively they reject Him.

Consequently they do not bother about obeying His laws. They act in a way which shows they are self-centred in their approach to life. It is this spirit of rebellion which allows some people to murder, commit adultery, steal. This is why Somali has seen many years of conflict. Jesus Christ never lived like that. He told His followers to put away the sword for His kingdom and rule is not built on political power or on religious wars. He said to His follower Peter, one of His closest Companions, as we read in this actual account:


Then Jesus said to him, ‘Put your sword back in its place. Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?” (Matthew 26: 52-54)


The same spirit of rebellion causes others to be puffed up in pride, eaten up in jealousy or fritter away their lives in addictions and selfishness. Different people show different symptom of this rebellion but all are rebellious. The fact of rebellion is real. The Bible calls this spirit of rebellion sin. It makes no effort to minimize the seriousness of it. It sees it to be the root cause of all the problems which we have in trying to live in relationship with each other (wars, strife, divorce, race riots). But the worst feature of sin is that since it is a rebellion against Jesus Christ’s right to control our lives and since Jesus is Master, then sin has consequences of eternal magnitude.

One day Jesus will return and overthrow all who remain rebellious to His rule.


This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angles in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.” (2 Thessalonians 1: 5-10)


Sin does matter because it wrecks life here and now and if unforgiven will take a person to hell.


Stop the Rebellion


God in His love and mercy does the only thing that we would expect him to do. He commands everyone everywhere to stop rebelling against Him and turn back and obey Him. This is what the Bible means by the term ‘repentance’. The Apostle Paul tells us that God commands all people everywhere to repent because He has fixed a day when He will judge the world. (Acts of the Apostles 17: 30-31).


The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance by raising him from the dead.” (Acts of the Apostles 17: 30-31)


Because of our sin, we do not have the ability to repent unless God gives us this ability as a gift. The Gospel of John 6: 44 says:


No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”


And we should consequently beg God to have mercy on us and give us this gift so that we can stop rebelling and submit to Jesus Christ as Lord.


Amnesty is granted


When people repent they’re granted an amnesty by God. They are not punished for their acts of rebellion as they ought to be. Indeed they are treated as if they never were rebels. We don’t deserve this treatment and it could never have been ours except for the death of Jesus Christ on out behalf. I will have an explanation about that later on in this booklet.


For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteousness for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.” (1 Peter 3: 18)


When Jesus died He took the punishment which mankind deserved because of their sin.

He was punished for sinful people so that they could be set free from the punishment they deserve. This is the measure of the love of Jesus Christ for us: He loved us and gave His life for us.


This is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4: 10)


A new beginning – it is possible!


When anyone stops rebelling and allows Jesus to control their life, this is a clear indication that God has changed them and made them into new people. They may feel much the same, and look the same, but they act differently. They act differently because they are different. And this is a miracle. The change is not man made, or just the choice of a religious culture.

They now want to please Jesus – before, they wanted to please themselves. Now they want to obey Jesus – before, they ignored and disobeyed Him. This changed behavior stems from a changed attitude to Jesus and this changed attitude is what the Bible calls being born again.

This change is something which God does and is sometimes referred to as having Christ living in us (Galatians 2:20) and sometimes as having the Holy Spirit dwelling within. (Romans 8: 11). For followers of Jesus the Holy Spirit is not the angel Gabriel. Instead He is the Spirit, who with the Father and Jesus, are together One God. For we read in the Gospel, “God is Spirit. . . ” (John 4:24)

Of course it is important to realize that in submitting to Jesus’ control a person does not lose his or her identity. Rather they become more complete as human beings. Before they were slaves to sin, now they have found true freedom. For it is in Jesus’ service that ‘perfect freedom’ is found.


What is a follower of Jesus?


A follower of Jesus, then, is someone who recognizes that Jesus Christ has the right to control his or her life. They recognize that they are rebels against Jesus Christ and deserve to be punished.


A follower of Jesus will believe that Jesus Christ actually did die on the Cross taking the punishment which their sins deserved. I will explain about the death of Christ, shortly.

A follower of Jesus is a person who has responded to God’s call to repent. They have turned from rebellion against Jesus and submitted to Him. This person knows that he or she has been forgiven. They know that God has made them a new person and that Jesus lives in their life by the presence of the Holy Spirit, who with the Father and the Lord Jesus, is God.


They know this because they see their changed desires, attitudes and behavior. In fact the Presence of God the Holy Spirit being within a follower of Jesus, He the Holy Spirit will witness to the human spirit of a man or woman that they are now different. Not perfect, but a new person just the same. This person trusts God with his or her life.


Mistaken ideas!


It is clear from this that a person does not become a follower of Jesus merely by living a good life as such, or being a good person in the community, or following the teaching of a good man. It is possible to do all these things and still be in rebellion against Jesus. In fact, it is often true that the better people are the more difficult it is for them to realize that they need to be forgiven. They tend to think that they are good enough. But a follower of Jesus is not just a good person.

But now we must look at some most difficult matters.


Why do some say that Jesus is the “Son of God”?

A Muslim will know that Jesus Christ is called the “Word of God” or Kalimat Allah. If you will read the Gospel of John 1: 1-3 you will see that this same Word was in the beginning with God. And by this Word of God all created things came into what we now call “existence”.

Jesus did not begin his life when Mary gave birth to her son. For Jesus was from before the time of Abraham, and that was many years before. For Jesus told the Jewish rulers, “Before Abraham was, I am.”



In fact, He was with God the Father, right at the beginning, before the world was made, and before Adam and Eve were made. Here is what the very first verse of the Torah says:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Torah, Genesis 1:1) This was written in the Hebrew language and the word in Hebrew for the Somali word “Ilaah” is the word “Elohim”. The ending of the word “Elohim” makes it plural, that is two or more. The word is made up of “El” for god and “him” for the plural designator. The composite word has the vowel added or “o” making the word “Elohim”. The total word is “God”, not a god but One God who is more complex than some may have understood. In Genesis 1: 1 the rest of the verse has a singular verb. This is the Somali verb “abuuray” to create. What the Lord God does He does in unity with all who He is. This agrees with the words in the Gospel of John 1:1-4 which are now quoted:


In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” (John 1: 1-4)


This leads us to our next point. It is true that the Bible calls Jesus Christ the “Son of God” but please note one thing. He is not called “Walad Allah” You will know that the Qur’an reports on the Times of Ignorance, and on the view then that Allah had some daughters. But daughters He could not have, for that is not possible. God has no wife, and it is blasphemy to say that He has “daughters”. Similarly, followers of Jesus say, He God has no “walad” or boy. You will not find the expression Waladu’llah used of Jesus Christ But the expression Ibnu’llaah is used because it does not require or teach that God had sex with Mary and so made a ‘son’ in a human, sexual or biological sense. In the Gospel, Jesus is called by many terms such as “the door” and “the vine” and “the way.” But he is not made of wood, nor does He grow like a vine, or swing on a hinge like any door in your house. No, this is a philosophical way of using words. He is called the “Son of God” because He is of one Nature or Substance with the Father, just as my earthly son has my nature, or my clan flesh.


Other titles are used in the Gospels to refer to Jesus. He often spoke of Himself as the “Son of Man”. Here, of course was a reference to his humanity. You may be more comfortable with that title, but wait a minute. It was correct of course, for Jesus did become flesh and was fully human as well as fully divine. When Jesus used the words ‘son of man’ he was using code language to point to the reference in the Prophet Daniel, chapter 7: 13-14. Here is what the Bible says:


I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him.

And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed. ” (Daniel 7: 13-14)


This is teaching that Jesus Christ returned up to the Ancient of Days, or as the Bible says, to the Father who is God, and He was presented before the Lord. And to Jesus was given dominion and authority. His kingdom is eternal. It will never end or pass away. Other people will decline, other religions will end, but His spiritual kingdom will never decline. It will never end.

This leads to the next question. What is the nature of God? We know that God is Spirit. That is, the Father God is not flesh and blood as is Jesus Christ. And we know that the Holy Spirit is “Spirit.” But each of the Three who are yet One, have aspects of their work and personality which differs from the Other. Some people use illustrations to try to explain this. But for me this is not really helpful. God is a mystery. We cannot ‘understand’ God as if His essence can be adequately described you us. That would be to make us God, as if we could know all that there is to know about Him. We cannot.

But if you take the time to read the whole Bible you will discover something quite amazing:


*The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One, and only One God.


*Each of these three Divine Substances has something of them which the other Divine Substances do not have. The Father is not the Son, and the Son is not the Holy Spirit.


*No one of these three, if He could be completely separated from the Others (and that is impossible) would alone and in isolation from the others, by Himself, be God. That cannot be.


*Each Divine Substance being united to the other Two in an eternal and inseparable unity, is God.


*And each Divine Substance being united with the other Two, retains the same Nature and Dignity as the other Two. Here is a part of the Bible which sets out who Jesus is:


And when Jesus was baptized immediately he went up from the water, and behold the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold a voice from heaven said, ‘this is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

(Matthew 3: 16-17)


And you will note that Jesus is fully human. He actually came to John to be baptized. Yet while fully human the voice of God the Father came from heaven itself to affirm this One as the “Son of God”. As well, the presence of The Spirit of God was seen, being in the form of a dove. The Father was not the Son. The Son was not the Father. And the Holy Spirit was not the Son. The role, the form, and if we could say so the shape of each was different. Yet there is only one God. This is what the Bible teaches and it is so. As the Bible says in 1 Timothy 2: 5


For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”


But God did not become Jesus, and Jesus did not become the Holy Spirit. That is not what happened.

But now I have something interesting to tell you. I don’t expect you to believe all that you have just read. This is because Jesus said ‘no one could believe, unless the Father in heaven takes away the veil from their eyes. This knowledge of who Jesus is, is a revealed truth. Sure, it is written plainly in the Bible, you can see that for yourself if you care to read the Bible. But only by God’s grace can you see how true are His words. I have told you plainly what the Bible says. Now let us see how much God gives you to believe . . .


Why do some say Jesus died on the Cross?


Here is the historical account:


Then he (Jesus) said to them, ‘ These are the words I spoke to you when I was with still you, that everything written about me in the Law and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, ‘Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.’ ” (Luke 24: 44-47)


This is the gospel record, but then even after His resurrection some of His companions were frightened at his appearance, and some had doubts. These are the words of Jesus Himself. This is His explanation.



So he (Pilate) delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. ” (John 19: 16-18)


As I know that this record is true, so also God by His power can keep these words in your mind. And God can convince you that this is true, If He chooses to do so. Will you pray to Him for Him to give you repentance and faith. And turning from our sin, will you depend on Him for His gift of new life? Will you pray for this to come to you?



How does a Somali become a follower of Jesus?


Basically people become followers of Jesus when God does something in them, and makes them new people. It is not just by what they believe though that is important. It is not just because of what they pray in repenting before God, and repenting of their rebellion against Jesus. To be sure they make a response to God. To be sure they pray to God to “receive him as their Saviour and Lord.” But the explanation of what really must happen is given in chapter 1 of the Gospel of John, verses 10-14. When you read it please note that it is not saying that a person makes himself or herself a follower of the Way. It is in fact the very opposite: It is the work of God the Father, and He makes this change in your life, if you now believe in Jesus as Lord, and submit to Him.


He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become the children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God . . . For the Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ”

(John 1: 10-14 & 17)


To respond in repentance and faith a person could pray a prayer something like this: “Lord Jesus, with my mind emotion and will I say this. I recognize that You are God and have the right to control my life. I am a rebel and have rebelled against other people and against You. I have sinned in what I think and what I do and what I say. Sometimes I sin unconsciously, sometimes I sin deliberately. I am sorry for this and ask You to forgive me. Now I am turning from my rebellion and I will obey You. Lord Jesus I have read that you died on the cross as a substitute for me. I find it hard to believe that you actually died on the cross, but I have read in the Bible that it is so. I didn’t see you die for me, but I thank You anyway. Please now will You have mercy on me. No man can save me. No priest or normal prophet can forgive me. Please do for me what Companion John said in his Gospel, “(to be) born of God.” Amen


How does a New Believer in Jesus Christ behave?


He or she should read God’s word each day, and find time to pray to God in secret. If there are two or three other believers in Jesus, people you know of, you can meet together to encourage each other in the faith of our Lord. We can call these little groups “house churches.” If necessary you can keep the existence of these “house churches” secret. At least until it is safe for you to let others know you are followers of Jesus. A church is not the building. It is the people. Normally, in a house church, four things will happen.


*They will plan for a baptism, if a new person is to join the group.


*From time to time they will remember the death of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians chapter 11: 17-32 explains this.


*When the group meets they will read the Word of God, and pray. Someone will explain the word, and give illustrations to help the others understand it. And this preaching should come with some application for the individuals present, based on what the Bible teaches.


*When a new believer does not live in line with the Word of God, an Elder in the house church should gently correct that person. This is not by physical punishment, but by admonition, by words.
